Barbara Ann Corcoran
Barbara Ann Corcoran, born on March 10, 1949, is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer as a consultant, speaker, columnist syndicated, author, and TV presenter. She co-founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage located in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly thereafter exited the company. One of the original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until today. In February of 2020, Corcoran had made 53 deals, with the biggest being a $350,000 investment that included 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second in a family of 10 children who was born in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a skilled worker throughout Corcoran's childhood. Her family depended sometimes on food deliveries from an artisanal local grocery store for free food. Corcoran recalls her father, who was a drunk at times excessively, and behaved towards her mother disrespectfully and condescendingly, especially after he'd had some drinks. Corcoran struggled at school and later found out that she had dyslexia. Corcoran started high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at a Catholic elementary school. Corcoran who was in the process of failing many classes during her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There, she received a D.
